seeRITE OF PASSAGE VOL.1 by Chuck Kelley
Many countries and cultures have forgone the rite of passage. Rite of passage is a ceremony that celebrates an individual’s passing from one stage of life into the next, such as from adolescence into adulthood. Prior to the event, an individual undergoes a “course of studies” which informs and prepares the individual for the next stage. Lacking this insider’s information, it’s easy to envision how an individual can get stuck at certain stages and remain there, floundering, in limbo.
I know that I have always wished that we had rites of passage…anything that would give me some idea where I was on the course of life and tell me some of the damn secrets that would allow me to move forward and flourish! Having not had that, I have been guessing my way through the whole damn thing. Because, like me, most of us are stuck at 18…we still feel 18…we still want a ton of the stuff that we wanted at 18…and what are we at 18? Are we the real deal…are we actually, really, no longer kids, but an authentic Man or Women? I know that, at the time, we thought that we were all grown up and had all the answers, but before long we realized that we knew notta! But, here we are now…we’re still 18. Some people feel and see themselves a bit older, but it ain’t by much! By the way, I Hate mirrors! With a passion!
So, with the rites, I’m going to lay out some goodies over the next few blogs that’ll make life a hell of a lot easier to negotiate, plus we can start feeling more comfortable in our skin.
To be continued…
