THE WATCHER’S PERSPECTIVE by Chuck Kelley
The Watcher is our True Self. The Watcher is the silent and mysteriously detached part of our selves that merely observes. In our book, Who and What Owns Us, we show how to instantly connect with the Watcher, which is moving into The Blank Slate and living there…another way is through meditation. Regardless of one’s preferred method, the deciphering of our lives remains guess work, at best, without the Watcher’s perspective.
The Watcher part of us, has no ego; so cannot be insulted, has no agenda; so cannot be disappointed; has no subjectivity; so is free to clearly see what is and accept that what is…is what is in the moment. Our normal waking self is most often creating excuses and a slew of other busy work explaining our lives back to ourselves moment to moment…attempting to make it more palatable with spicy justifications, blame, and blah, blah, blah. No wonder we feel crazy so much of the time.
The quickest route to the Watcher is to ask ourselves the following question and DO NOT attempt to answer it, let the answer come on its own. “Where is my next thought coming from?” The silence that ensues is The Blank Slate; relax there and allow the Watcher to take over. Make this practice a habit. The more often we do it the better we’ll get and the longer we are able to maintain the connection. Whenever it feels as if the connection slipping; simply and silently repeat the question.
I’ve had occasions where the connection never wavered for days on end…talking about pleasantly turning the world on its ear! In fact, writing about it has made me all excited…I’m going there now. Bye!
